ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES & TRAINING
Undergraduate (MBBS) Teaching

Active undergraduate medical education with regular lectures conducted for MBBS students according to the latest CBME curriculum. Clinical postings focus on case discussions, detailed patient examinations, bedside clinics, and ward-based teaching. Students are encouraged to attend surgical OTs to gain first-hand insight and observe various operative procedures.

Internship Training

Internship includes a comprehensive 45-day clinical rotation under the Department of General Surgery. During this posting, interns rotate sequentially through surgical wards, OPD, casualty/emergency, and operation theatres. This structured rotation enables them to observe and learn the clinical management of a wide range of surgical patients under experienced faculty and senior residents, as well as learn and assist in various routine and emergency surgical procedures.

Postgraduate Training (MS General Surgery)

The Department offers a structured and comprehensive postgraduate training program aimed at developing highly skilled, competent, and independent surgeons. Residents receive extensive training in patient evaluation, diagnosis, and management across inpatient wards, outpatient departments (OPD), emergency services, and critical care settings.

  • Clinical Rounds & Mentorship: Daily academic and clinical rounds form an integral part of training, offering opportunities for in-depth case discussions, clinical decision-making, and individualized mentorship by senior faculty to formulate evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Operative Training: Postgraduate residents receive progressive hands-on surgical training in both elective and emergency procedures under expert supervision, emphasizing operative skill acquisition, perioperative management, and sound surgical judgment.
  • Minimally Invasive Exposure: Residents gain hands-on and observational experience with modern surgical technologies, including advanced laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures.
  • Academic & Scholarly Activities: Regular seminars, case presentations, journal clubs, and research/thesis projects enhance medical knowledge and contribute directly to professional growth as surgical specialists.
