INTRODUCTION
The department of Orthopedics at Dr. SCGMC was established in the year 1991 with a vision to create knowledge, advanced learning, and improve musculoskeletal health at the community, provincial, and national level. The department is headed by Dr. Rajesh K. Ambulgekar with a spirited and committed team of senior and associate consultants providing expert surgical care.

Nanded is the nearest and an easily accessible Tertiary Healthcare centre for villages of the neighboring states of Telangana and Karnataka due to its close proximity. Being close to three major highways (Tuljapur, Nizamabad, and Aurangabad Highways), this hospital manages a high volume of trauma and fracture cases, providing comprehensive care.

In the year 1991, the department received registration for 1 M.S. Orthopedic seat. In 2017, the intake was increased to 6 seats, all of which were recognized in the year 2018. Currently, the Orthopedic department of Dr. SCGMC, Nanded comprises 3 units with 6 recognized M.S. Orthopedic seats.
